Airport Master is a mobile airport management simulation game where players take on the role of airport manager — hiring staff, scheduling flights, upgrading facilities, and expanding their business to turn a small airstrip into a bustling global hub.

As the Game Designer, I led design across all phases of the project, from early prototype to production, shaping the core gameplay loop, systems, and player experience.

  • Core Systems Design → Led the design and balancing of core management systems, including staff hiring, flight scheduling, passenger flow, and airport operations.
  • Simulation & Service Design → Designed passenger satisfaction systems, employee productivity mechanics, and upgradeable service features like shops, food courts, and lounges, ensuring engaging management challenges.
  • Progression & Economy Design → Created meta-progression systems covering facility upgrades, fleet improvements, milestone unlocks, and investment strategies to deliver rewarding long-term player growth.
  • Onboarding & FTUE Design → Built the full early player experience, from tutorial flows and onboarding missions to progressive feature unlocks, ensuring approachability for new players.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Leadership → Collaborated closely with product, art, engineering, and UX teams, aligning gameplay design with visual direction, technical feasibility, and business goals.
  • Monetization & Retention Design → Designed monetization hooks, premium upgrades, ad-based rewards, and retention systems, integrating them smoothly into the management loop without compromising gameplay integrity.

Throughout development, I focused on creating a management experience that balances optimization, creativity, and satisfaction — giving players the thrill of running an efficient, ever-expanding airport empire.

Detailed Info

I served as the Main Game Designer on Airport Master, leading design efforts from early prototype through full production, shaping the game’s core management loop, player progression, and economy systems.

Core Gameplay Design

  • Defined the core airport management loop, where players hire staff, schedule flights, manage resources, and grow their airport empire.

  • Designed and balanced systems for passenger satisfaction, employee performance, flight efficiency, and operational flow.

  • Created meaningful upgrade paths for planes, terminals, shops, services, and airport infrastructure, ensuring engaging player decisions.

Simulation Systems & Replayability

  • Developed scalable systems that increase airport complexity, introducing new services, passenger types, and operational challenges as players progress.

  • Designed dynamic elements like passenger moods, peak hour surges, and staff efficiency fluctuations to create replayable and emergent management challenges.

Progression & Meta Systems

  • Built long-term progression systems, including upgrade trees, milestone rewards, and unlockable content, offering players strategic depth and continuous goals.

  • Designed investment and reinvestment loops to ensure player decisions around growth and optimization remained meaningful throughout play.
